Mother nature sure likes to put on a show on the Sunshine Coast – with beautiful sunshine, glistening waterways and impressive outlooks to see the day away. A magical sunset is sure to end your day on a high, as one of life’s simplest pleasures.
Keen to explore and chase the sunset? Find the best spots to throw down a picnic rug, open a beverage and watch the sunset with loved ones:
Located at the Northern End of Kawana Beach, a sunset at Point Cartwright is worth the 30 minute trip from Birtinya. You’ll be amazed by the glorious views over Mooloolaba as the sun disappears.
Perfect for larger groups or families, access this spot by car at the end of Pacific Drive. Follow the 300m walk to the lighthouse, roll out a picnic rug and enjoy the breathtaking pink and orange hues across the ocean…
For a more intimate experience and perfect date spot within walking distance of Birtinya, we recommend taking your favourite person to the Kawana Jetty at dusk. On the timber jetty, bring your favourite snacks and drinks and bask in the stellar view.
Mount Ngungun, Glass House Mountains
For the more adventurous sunset lovers, the view from the top of Mount Ngungun is sure to impress.
The sixth tallest of the Glass House Mountains, Mount Ngungun has a well maintained walking track that is easily accessible from the carpark and open to beginners. At 253m above sea level, this won’t be your regular end of day experience. Pack some snacks and level up your sunset game. Just be sure to come equipped with torches and appropriate walking equipment for your return in darkness.
Sometimes the best way to enjoy twilight following a warm day is a casual evening on the beach with loved ones. Pack your bathers, a towel and perhaps your favourite beach game to play on the sand. Fill an esky and order fish and chips – a relaxed yet unbeatable evening awaits.
