Construction has started on a $12.5 million high-rise project at Mooloolaba which its developer predicts will create about 500 jobs.

Cube Developments began building Picasso on Monday at the intersection of Walan St and Naroo Ct.

It’s the developer’s latest project and starts just days after residents moved into Cube Development’s Beach Life Alex apartment complex.

Upon completion, Picasso will be home to 12 architecturally designed apartments – of which 75 per cent have been snapped up by local and interstate buyers.

Cube Development director Scott Juniper said the affordability of the apartments in the sought-after pocket was the driving factors for the quick sales.

“There hasn’t been a boutique project like Picasso released in the area in a number of years, so this is a rare opportunity for buyers to purchase new in the area,” Mr Juniper said.

“The vantage at Mooloolaba is unrivalled – just 200m from the patrolled beach, and a short walk to the new entertainment and dining district at the wharf.
